Merci!

Bonjour beaujolais, beaujolais racer a écrit:The cheapest is shipping to a french harbour.
In a specially built case. So you have to dismantle handlebar plus front wheel.
Or in a container ( more expensive, but you do not dismantle nothing and build no case)
Then by road transport until Lyon.
Motorcyle transporters will only take rolling bikes.
If its in a case it is standard freight, more expensive than specialised bike transport .
Closer harbour is Marseille or Fos sur mer.
Search "transport moto " on google. Most understand english
I initially wanted to do a door-to-door option but they are way too expensive.
I am following your advice on this. ship in a container, sort out the papers (carte grise normal first as I got a CoC from bmw already), and then find road transport.
Thanks!!

BMW will not deliver you a COC as it's a document issued for vehicles since 1996.
For vehicles before this date, the french homologation service will not accept your vehicle either as they don't bother anymore with old vehicles. You will have to get a collection vehicle certificate from the FFVE to then register it as a collection vehicle.
The FFVE will probably not deliver such a certificate if your vehicle is not strictly conform to the type that was new from factory.
That's why I strongly recommend that you first ask this certificate from the FFVE before thinking about a shipment to France.
You won't be the first one to move an expensive bunch of metal from otherseas and to let it in the garage as it won't be ever registered in France

Thanks for the advice. That is indeed the nightmare I am trying to avoid.
I did go around many circles in the past weeks to try to get these documents before I actually ship the bike.
BMW never replied me on the official website but I went into a BMW dealer that I passed by (I am based in Lyon).
After several follow ups, I managed to get this document attached.
The title is : ATTESTATION D'IDENTIFICATION D'UN VEHICLE USAGE IMPORTE, CONFORME A UN TYPE NATIONAL
It appears to be the CoC I am looking for. Would this be ok you reckon?

FFVE won't give me any answers without the "Document 846-A des douanes".
It is the document I will only be able to apply after I go through customs as the bike enters France right?
I have also noted your comment about the seat.
I was planning to switch it to my 2nd set of seat for 2 people before the shipment.
I have also the original seat and all the original parts which i was planning to ship together with me just in case.. but modifying it back to the orignal state would be a nightmare..
